Bungie is looking for an experienced Environment Art Lead to spearhead our Palette Team, responsible for setting and surpassing the inspirational standard for environment assets within the Destiny IP. If your passion is to create striking and performant set pieces, develop versatile modular libraries, build high quality shader sets, and mentor a team committed to craft excellence, then this is the role for you.
As an Environment Art Lead of the Palette Team, craft contributions and team guidance are at the core. You will be responsible for creating and directing high-quality asset content ranging from modular architecture and props to natural assets like rocks, trees, and foliage. You will lead your team on execution of such content, providing mentorship, planning, oversight, and direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish a high bar for your team with the creation and delivery of high-quality environment assets, shaders, and modular kits
Provide mentorship, training, and direction to team members to achieve and surpass goals
Work with both internal and external studio team members for content creation and delivery
Collaborate with Art Direction to set and maintain visual quality goals for all team-delivered content
Uphold standards for aesthetic and technical quality
Define, optimize, and enhance an effective art pipeline while identifying workflow improvements
Work with Production and Art Management to estimate project deliverables, ensuring they meet the defined objectives, quality bar, and schedule
Promote a culture of positivity and collaborative innovation
Identify, mitigate, and escalate risks in your area
Work responsibly to set and adhere to the scope and capacity of your team
Participate in and guide regular reviews and critique processes
REQUIRED SKILLS
Proven experience as a team lead in large scale game development
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to autonomously create innovative environment art content aligned to Destiny’s visual pillars
Deep understanding of how to build for modularity, versatility, and efficiency
Thorough understanding of light, value, composition, color, staging, and detail in environmental design
Advanced understanding of shader development
Advanced understanding of the core principals of 3D Environment Art content creation
Outstanding ability to drive creative visual and technical solutions
Be task driven, self-motivated, and proactive
Experience solving technical challenges of working with occlusion, terrain, and modular assets
Expertise in standard industry software (Photoshop, Maya, Max, Substance, etc.)
Enthusiasm for playtesting, giving feedback, and receiving feedback

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
