About

Gray Matter Studios was previously known as Xatrix Entertainment, Inc, it was acquired by Activision and merged into Treyarch. It is currently defunct.

After the release of Kingpin: Life of Crime developer Xatrix Entertainment decided to rename the studio to Gray Matter Interactive. In January 2002 the studio was acquired by Activision, and towards the end of developing Call of Duty 2: Big Red One in 2005 the studio was merged into Treyarch. Some of the Gray Matter Interactive team still works at Treyarch, but the founder of Gray Matter and several other members left to work elsewhere.

These games were developed as Gray Matter Interactive:

Trinity: The Shatter Effect (cancelled by Activision)

Return to Castle Wolfenstein (2001)

Call of Duty: United Offensive (expansion) (2004)

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (in conjunction with Treyarch) (2005)
