Founded as Cinematronics, LLC, the company was bought by Maxis in 1996. The next year, the studio was closed as part of Maxis's purchase by EA.
Founded in Texas in 1994, Maxis South (originally Cinematronics, LLC) developed mostly puzzle games for Windows and Macintosh.
Cinematronics LLC created the 3D Pinball: Space Cadet game which was included in Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95, as well as bundled in with Windows ME and Windows XP.
Despite the similarities in name, the company was not related to the older pinball developer Cinematronics.
