Micronet was one of many small Japanese companies that pinned their hopes to the Sega-CD.
Micronet was founded in 1983 by Akihiko Murakami, initially to make software for the nascent PC scene. In 1984 Isao Nakasugi was hired as Chief Programmer (and first employee). By 1992 the company had expanded to over 30 staff.
In 1986 the company made the transition from the PC to developing for the Sega Genesis, with their first release being Curse. They followed up with the puzzle game, Junction and a military simulation game named, Ambition of Caesar.
The company is best known for their home translation of Raiden.
