Remedy is a privately held company founded in 1995. A year after being founded the developer released it's first game Death Rally on the PC. In 2001, Remedy released their first AAA game Max Payne a third person action game best known for it's noir presentation and it's popularization of the game mechanic bullet time. With Max Payne's critically acclaimed success out the game, Remedy sold the rights to Max Payne to Take 2 Interactive for $10 Million and 969 932 shares of stock. Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne released in 2003 to poor sales despite critical acclaim. In 2005 Remedy revealed it was working on a new IP titled Alan Wake. Alan Wake ended up in development for 5 years until it's release in 2010 for the Xbox 360, later ported to the PC. Alan Wake's American Nightmare a spinoff title would soon follow in 2012. It was announced that Mike Capps [Ex-Epic Games President] would be joining Remedy as a board member. Sam Lake is currently Creative Director of Remedy's projects. Tero Virtala is Remedy's CEO.
