Barking Dog Studios was founded in May of 1998 in Vancouver, British Columbia by six ex-Radical Entertainment employees; Brian Thalken, Peter Grant, Sean Thompson, Christopher Mair, Glenn Barnes, and Michael Gyori.
Barking Dog was purchased by Rockstar Games in August of 2002 and renamed Rockstar Vancouver. A full decade later, after the release of Max Payne 3, Rockstar decided to merge its Canadian studios into one unit 35km outside of Toronto. Rockstar Vancouver employees largely migrated to Rockstar Toronto.
