Silmaris was a French game design and publishing studio

Founded by brothers Louis-Marie and Andre Rocques in October 1987, Silmarils (named after the gems in JRR Tolkien's novel The Silmarillion ) released games for the PC, Amiga, Atari ST, Atari Falcon and Macintosh, along with some rare console releases. The company consisted of two offices - their headquarters in Lognes, Marne-la-Vallée near Paris, and a development studio in Nancy, in Eastern France. Their games covered all genres and included titles such as Boston Bomb Club, Transarctica and the Ishar Series. Their final original release was Arabian Nights in 2001. They also experimented with publishing other studios' games during the 2000s. The company was put into liquidation in 2003. A year later, the two founders would found a new studio, EverSim, which focuses its attention on political simulators and "serious games". Most of Silmaril's IPs are currently owned by DotEmu.
