A popular Japanese video game company founded in 1967 as Tehkan. They merged with Koei in 2009 to create Tecmo Koei.

HistoryWhile Tecmo was founded on July 31, 1967 as Tehkan (they changed their name to Tecmo in 1986), they didn't start making video games until 1981. They started by selling cleaning equipment and amusement equipment in 1969. In 1981 Tecmo released their first game, Pleiads. However, they are better known as the creators of popular series such as Ninja Gaiden and Tecmo Bowl. On April 1, 2009 Tecmo merged with Koei to create Tecmo Koei. However, in 2010 Tecmo's development studio was re-launched.
