Telltale Games is a digital-first publisher and developer who is well known for their reinvented Sam and Max episodic series, and more recently Tales of Monkey Island, Back to the Future, and The Walking Dead.

The company was started in 2004 by former LucasArts employees who were working on the now-cancelled Sam & Max: Freelance Police game. Due to their experience in LucasArts' classic adventure games, Telltale specializes in episodic point-and-click adventure games.

", a work done by cartoonist Graham Annable. In 2010, Telltale released Poker Night at the Inventory, a poker game featuring 4 different characters from four different franchises. The game combines Max, from the Sam & Max series of comic books and games (also from Telltale), Strong Bad from the Homestar Runner website, Heavy Weapons Guy from Valve's Team Fortress 2, and Tycho Brahe from the Penny Arcade web comic. Together with the player, they play no limits Texas Hold'em, while engaging in humorous conversations with each other. In December 2010 they released the first episode of Back to the Future: The Game. The planned Jurassic Park episodic series was supposed to debut soon after, but was delayed until November 2011. In 2012 Telltale made Law & Order Legacies, based on the TV show. In April the same year they released the first episode of their long-awaited episodic The Walking Dead series. They also released a game based on the graphic novel, Fables called The Wolf Among Us.
