1-UP Studio, Inc. is a restructured incarnation of Brownie Brown.


1-UP was formerly known as Brownie Brown Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Nintendo and best known for developing Mother 3. Brownie Brown was restructured and reborn as 1-UP Studio in early 2013 with Keizo Kato as studio director and Nintendo's Yoshiaki Koizumi executive director. Their first contribution under the new name was assisting EAD Tokyo with Super Mario 3D World.

In 2017, Masaru Nishida took over as studio director for Kato.
