We back studios we believe will shake things up – and who believe the same about us.
Investment Company & Indie Collective for very special studios.
- An island for special studios
Are you working on a game that could put a dent in the world’s attention span? You should take a look at becoming part of Isle of Strays. With us, you’ll get access to a few pretty special opportunities – like co-owning other one-of-a-kind game studios, getting some stress-relieving capital (for your studio or yourselves), and receiving robust support through recoupment phases, project transitions, and other industry pitfalls.
- Investment philosophy
Big studios scare us. We’re looking for unbloated, easy-to-understand companies – ones with clear visions and specializations. We’re not chasing the wildest longshots, and we’re not pretending to be experts at spotting the next secret unicorn.
Instead, we trust our ability to work with the visible companies – the ones with traction, community, and momentum. You know, the ones people are talking about. The truly promising ones.
And we want them to believe in us too. That’s why our investments are most often a mix of equity and capital – making Isle of Strays co-owned by studio founders and shareholders.
Why would the studios give up shares, you might ask? Well, they get to co-own a group of other trailblazers. And who knows – one of them might be the next breakout star. It’s about shared upside and smart risk mitigation. And more uniquely, they’re invited to the vibrant bazaar of a secondary market.
- The disrupting idea
At Isle of Strays, we provide a secondary market for our portfolio companies. This gives founders and early shareholders the rare opportunity to sell a small portion of their shares. For unlisted game studios, that kind of flexibility is almost unheard of. It’s our way of easing pressure without sacrificing long-term commitment. And we’re very proud of it.
