Founded in 1990 by Voldi Way, WayForward has become one of video gaming's biggest independent development studios and houses some of the finest talent in the industry. We got our start in the PC/Super Nintendo/Genesis era of gaming, rode the educational CD-ROM wave through the '90s, and eventually found our way back onto handhelds and consoles. We’ve built our reputation on solid gaming fundamentals, feature-quality character animation, and flexibility and know-how when it comes to bringing entertainment brands into the world of gaming – including original characters of our own design, established gaming IPs, and comic book and Hollywood favorites.
The list of titles that WayForward has developed is an extensive one, with more than 200 releases to our credit. Recent products include River City Girls, Spidersaurs, Mighty Switch Force! Collection, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, The Mummy Demastered, and more! In addition to our own properties, we've been involved with some of entertainment's top brands, including Batman, DuckTales, Adventure Time, X-Men, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as classic gaming revivals such as Contra, A Boy and His Blob, and Double Dragon.
The last decade's advances in digital publishing have allowed us to focus on both self-published titles and games created for other publishers. We helped pioneer the digital-download scene with LIT, Mighty Flip Champs, Mighty Switch Force, and new entries in the award-winning Shantae series, and we're not planning to slow down anytime soon! We’re continuing to extend our reach to new platforms and territories, and today WayForward’s original games are being played all across the globe!
We want to create the most entertaining games under the sun. Our goal is to engage, delight, surprise, and match wits with gamers of all ages on whatever devices they can be found! Of course, a little humor along the way never hurts.
