Data Scientist II – Experimentation & Measurement

San Mateo, CA (Hybrid)

Overview:

Join the Decision Science team within the broader Data Science, Analytics, & Enablement (DSAE) organization at PlayStation. As a Data Scientist II, you will focus on designing and interpreting experiments to evaluate the impact of PS4 to PS5 user migration initiatives, growth marketing strategies, and broader campaign performance. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to embed experimentation into product development and decision-making.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Design and analyze A/B tests and quasi-experiments to assess the impact of various initiatives and campaigns.

• Support test setup, hypothesis development, and interpretation of results in partnership with product managers, engineers, and marketers.

• Independently retrieve and analyze data from complex data systems using SQL and Python.

• Translate experimental results into actionable recommendations that influence decision-making.

• Contribute to the development and adoption of experimentation best practices and tools.

• Stay current on developments in experimentation and causal inference and bring innovative thinking to your work.

• Share insights and collaborate with fellow data scientists to elevate experimentation capabilities across the team.

Basic Requirements:

• Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Economics, or Econometrics. Other degrees in quantitative disciplines may be considered.

• 2–4 years of experience in a data science experimentation-focused role (less with PhD).

• Solid understanding of A/B testing concepts and foundational causal inference methods.

• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Broad and applied knowledge of statistical techniques and machine learning modeling methods.

• Ability to communicate data-driven insights to cross-functional stakeholders.

• Bonus: Interest in or knowledge of video games, gaming platforms, or player behavior.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$153,300 - $229,900 USD
