Scopely is looking for a Staff Economy Simulation Engineer to join our Monopoly GO! team and work from Barcelona on a hybrid basis.

What You Will Do
Your mission will be standardising and processing configuration data and developing systems that accurately replicate game logic, generating reliable simulation outcomes that help the economy team predict, validate, and understand the impact of changes by combining real player data with advanced simulations.
You will partner closely with Game Economists, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Game/Server Engineers to ensure a balanced, fun, and sustainable experience for millions of players, ideal for someone who loves understanding how complex systems work.
1. Leadership
Lead a team of Engineers, setting clear expectations and providing continuous feedback, coaching, and mentoring to ensure success and growth
2. Data Modeling & Analysis
Design standardized data models for Economy and LiveOps features, finding commonalities and relations between different features
Transform raw game data into analytical datasets for simulation and evaluation
Collaborate with Game Economy to define KPIs, progression metrics, and economic models
3. Simulation & Game Logic
Build tools and code that accurately replicate in-game mechanics to validate and experiment with configurations
Build validated simulation engines capable of modeling full player progression and event cycles
Create reusable libraries enabling designers/economists to run simulations without engineering support
4. Integration with Real Player Data
Extract, process, and combine data from BigQuery or other data warehouses
Validate that simulations reflect real player behavior and outcomes
Automate the creation of datasets required for future analyses
5. Scalability & Compute Systems
Build pipelines and systems to run millions of simulations efficiently
Optimize workloads using Spark, Dataproc, Airflow, DBT, or similar frameworks
Maintain high code quality with proper testing, observability, and reproducibility
What We’re Looking For
6+ years as part of a professional game development team or other relevant area
Experience managing people, driving 1:1s and performance reviews, doing follow ups and providing regular feedback to direct reports
Experience driving and leading the technical execution of complex and interdisciplinary developments
Strong proficiency in Python or C# (required): classes, testing, simulation, optimization
Solid experience with SQL and at least one data warehouse (BigQuery preferred)
Knowledge of probability, applied statistics, and simulation techniques
Experience with distributed processing tools: Spark, PySpark, or alternatives
Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using Airflow, DBT, or similar frameworks
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure
Great tech communication skills, who knows how to share knowledge with non-technical people
A strong interest in leveraging AI-assisted tools (LLMs, copilots, automation frameworks) to improve productivity, enhance analysis depth, and accelerate iteration cycles
Bonus Points
Experience in gaming, monetization, or game economy
Familiarity with gameplay logic or LiveOps systems
Experience developing internal libraries or tools for non-technical teams
You’ve mentored less experienced team members
Curious about experimenting with AI systems to extend the capabilities of existing pipelines or prototype new evaluation methods
