By providing robust tools, comprehensive support, and a structured framework, we aim to cultivate a vibrant modding community that extends the longevity of our games and contributes meaningfully to the broader gaming industry.Job DescriptionThe Technical Writer creates and maintains comprehensive documentation and educational materials for modders.This role ensures accurate, accessible, and up-to-date information.Key Responsibilities:Documentation Creation and Maintenance:Develop, write, and update detailed documentation for modding tools, workflows, and processes. This includes step-by-step guides, API documentation, and system architecture overviews that help modders understand and use the tools efficiently.Ensure that all materials are clear, concise, and free of jargon that might confuse less technical users.Collaboration With Technical Experts:Work closely with developers and the Modding Supervisor to ensure the documentation accurately reflects the latest features, updates, and functionality of the modding tools and game.Gather insights from developers to explain complex technical concepts in an accessible way, transforming developer notes into user-friendly materials.Educational Material Development:In addition to technical documentation, create a wide range of educational materials such as tutorials, video guides, and FAQs.Collaborate with members of the Modding Department to develop resources that cater to different learning styles, ensuring that all modders can engage with the material regardless of their skill level.Adaptation to New Technologies and Updates:Proactively update all documentation and educational materials to reflect new features, patches, and updates to the modding tools, game engine or the game itself.Ensure that all materials are kept current with the latest updates, helping modders make the most of any new capabilities introduced in the modding tools, engine or game.Consistency in Tone and Accessibility:Ensure all documentation and educational materials maintain a consistent, accessible tone that welcomes modders of all experience levels.This includes providing both beginner-friendly and advanced guides, so that users with varying levels of technical knowledge can fully engage with the modding tools and the content creation process.RequirementsA minimum of 1–3 years of experience in technical writing or a related field, preferably within the software or technology industryExceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with a strong attention to detailProven ability to comprehend and articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences in a clear and concise mannerExperience in developing and tailoring content for multiple levels of experienceGood attention to detail, with a commitment to identifying and resolving inconsistencies in documentationAbility to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines effectivelyA strong passion for continuous learningPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience as a technical writer using WikiMedia in a software development environmentProficiency in using Atlassian tools, including Jira and ConfluenceHands-on experience with game modding, particularly in Arma Reforger, Arma 3, DayZ, or other titles outside of Bohemia InteractiveBenefits27 days of holidays per yearCompany profit-sharing plan, benefit program, meal contributionRelocation packageAll our games for free and moreApplicants should submit their portfolio and CV detailing their previous work experience as well as a cover letter outlining their interest to work for Bohemia Interactive.
